About the Book Series
The Pselmos Collection is an eight book romantasy series, set in a medieval solar punk world packed with magic. Every book follows the Monarch of the Faenra Family and their escapades falling in love. The novels are fun, upbeat, and hopefully feel like a warm hug to read. Enjoy themes of human connection, love in all its forms, and the reconstruction of civilization into a kinder, softer place. The first book, The King’s Pretense, follows current monarch of Gharine, Finn Faenra, and his estranged childhood best friend Jedda, as they attempt to uncover a plot to murder the King. There's a lot to discover about the series and the world of Pselmos before book one releases in 2027, and book two in 2028!
The World of Pselmos
I wrote this book series as a way to process my rage and agony at the state of the world. People of color being murdered with no justice, queer and trans youth killing themselves and being killed, the genocide of the Palestinian people, and the massacres occuring in Sudan and the Congo. I had nowhere to put my despair, and it rotted inside me for a long time.
I realized I wanted to write stories in a world where we WON. In a place where decent people are allowed to thrive and flourish and focus on the real problems that need solving. (Like how to get that cutie with the cat ears to smooch them.) Pselmos is a place created by a benevolent and loving creator, where people with dark skin are the majority and race as we know it doesn’t exist at all. Where people with disabilities are accommodated, trans youth are celebrated, and bigotry of any kind is met with swift repercussions.
Besides the magic, the Animal Folk, and the objectively better made planet, the world of Pselmos is possible. Here, on our planet, we can make the changes necessary to bring about a better, more peaceful world. There are many forces out there who don’t want you to believe that future is possible. That all we will ever experience is suffering and torment, war and murder. It’s not true. I hope through the eight books in the Pselmos series, I can show you how possible that world is, and how much fun we can have creating it.
